The Role
As an IT Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and stabilising critical infrastructure systems that support complex maritime and defence programmes. Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting and delivering server and virtualisation infrastructure solutions across key projects
- Migrating and optimising environments into VMware-based virtual stacks
- Collaborating with network engineers to stabilise and improve infrastructure environments
- Building, configuring and integrating systems across physical and virtual platforms
- Producing technical documentation, test plans and implementation artefacts
- Engaging with stakeholders and mentoring junior engineers within the team
- Visits to the British Underwater Test and Evaluation Centre (BUTEC) in Scotland for 1 week every 2 to 3 months.
Essential experience of the IT Infrastructure Engineer
- Strong experience in IT infrastructure with a focus on server and virtualisation technologies
- Hands-on experience with VMware and virtualised environments
- Experience working with Windows Server in complex environments
- Proven ability to troubleshoot, stabilise and improve infrastructure systems
- Experience working in collaborative engineering teams and engaging with stakeholders
- Ability to take ownership, work autonomously and contribute to team success
This role is 37 hours per week based at our Farnborough or Rosyth site, with a minimum average site attendance of 3 days per week. You will also be required to travel to the British Underwater Test and Evaluation Centre (BUTEC) once every 2 to 3 months for essential installation and maintenance work. Our standard working times are 8 AM-4 PM Monday to Friday.
