THE ROLE
We are seeking a Chinook Mk6 Synthetic Training System Instructor to join our team based at RAF Odiham.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver Chinook Mk6 synthetic training and ground instruction to whole crews.
- Deliver mission training, including multi‑aircraft formations.
- Provide mission planning and scenario preparation.
- Develop, update, and maintain training syllabi in accordance with the Defence Systematic Approach to Training (DSAT).
- Create and present after‑action review briefings.
- Diagnose and assess crew skills.
- Support STS training schedules.
- Provide input to the ongoing development of courseware, training aids, sorties and lesson plans to optimise training and support achievement of objectives.
THE PERSON
We are seeking a highly experienced, suitably qualified and proactive individual with a ‘can do attitude’ and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Operational experience flying the Chinook MK4/5/6/6A with a minimum of 1000 hours (desirable).
- Experience in NVD operations within 5 years of application.
- Certified to UK CFS(H)QHI B1 or QHTI equivalent (A2 desirable).
- Training Captain qualification considered on a case‑by‑case basis.
- Management skills in a support helicopter training environment.
- Evaluation and monitoring of student performance.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Chinook Instrument Rating Examiner (IRE).
- Knowledge or experience of synthetic training delivery and use of synthetic threat systems.
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful applicant must be a UK national and may be required to successfully complete National Security Vetting, which may involve criminal record, security service and credit reference checks. A minimum UK residency of at least five years is normally required.
