About the Role
As an Infrastructure & Systems Engineering Lead, you will play a key role in delivering and evolving a secure, high‑availability data and infrastructure service that supports critical operational decision‑making. Day‑to‑day, you’ll provide technical leadership across a live service environment, working closely with engineering teams and stakeholders to ensure system performance, resilience, and continuous improvement. You will deputise for the Technical Lead when required and support the coordination of technical activities across service delivery, infrastructure, and change programmes.
Responsibilities
- Leading and coordinating technical delivery across infrastructure, networking, and systems engineering teams
- Supporting the definition and delivery of technical work plans, ensuring alignment to programme priorities
- Providing technical oversight across live services, ensuring performance, availability, and security standards are met
- Driving continuous improvement through system upgrades, infrastructure changes, and service enhancements
- Producing and reviewing technical documentation, designs, and assurance artefacts
- Engaging with internal and external stakeholders to communicate technical solutions and resolve complex issues
Essential Experience
- Experience applying systems engineering principles across the full delivery lifecycle
- Strong background in secure IT systems, including design, integration, and validation
- Experience working with infrastructure, networking, and enterprise IT environments
- Knowledge of cyber security principles and secure‑by‑design approaches
- Experience operating within a secure or high‑assurance environment
- Ability to lead technical teams and manage competing priorities across a complex programme
Essential Qualifications
- Relevant degree or equivalent experience in Systems Engineering, IT, Networking, or a related discipline
- Willingness and eligibility to obtain Developed Vetting (DV) clearance
- Professional certifications such as ITIL, Security+, Network+, or similar (or working towards)

Farnborough – At our Farnborough site exciting work takes place at our state‑of‑the‑art facility, with high‑energy laser technologies, a 5m pressurised wind tunnel, and large research and development projects. The site hosts teams of Engineers, IT & Cyber Specialists, Project Managers, and Group Functions Teams.
