The Role
As Capability Lead (End User Computing), you will be responsible for strategically growing and maintaining the essential skills, processes and technologies required to deliver IT services effectively to meet business objectives. This includes developing talent, improving operational efficiency and fostering continuous improvement. Day-to-day, you’ll provide expert level consultation to senior leaders on capability-related matters, acting as a strategic partner to senior stakeholders across business functions enabling the delivery of cross-functional initiatives and transformation programmes.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and executing technical strategies and roadmaps for IT infrastructure, aligning with broader organisational goals and digital strategies
- Leading technical teams, developing talent and fostering a culture of accountability and innovation
- Leading and coaching Team Leads & Engineering Leads overseeing team structure, recruitment and career development
- Planning, Leading and delivering projects on time and within budget
- Maintaining strong stakeholder relationships and partnering with stakeholders across business units to shape and deliver strategic IT initiatives
- Representing QinetiQ IT at industry events and mitigating risks related to infrastructure
Essential experience of the Capability Lead (End User Computing)
- Proven experience in Leading IT operations within a multi-site or enterprise environment
- A strong knowledge of Modern Workplace technologies (E.G Microsoft 365, Endpoint Management, Citrix)
- Previous experience leading through influence in matrixed environments with a deep passion for service excellence
- Demonstrable success in driving service transformation and performance improvement with strong analytical capabilities
- Previous experience with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) e.g. VMware Horizon, Citrix or Azure Virtual Desktop
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills with a strong understanding of data privacy, information security, and compliance principles
Essential qualifications for the Capability Lead (End User Computing)
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field or equivalent experience
- ITIL Foundation v4 certification
This role is 37 hours per week based at any of our main UK locations. Shift patterns for this role are between 07:30 – 18:30 and you may be asked to work at specific times. You will be required to participate in an on-call rota.
