We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Microsoft and Virtualisation Engineer to join our innovative team at Inzpire LTD. Leveraging your deep expertise in Microsoft and virtualisation, you will collaborate with cross‑functional teams for fault resolution and to support product design, ensuring that solutions meet the highest standards of performance, reliability and security. As a Level 4 Microsoft and Virtualization Engineer you will be working as part of a small multi‑skilled engineering team supporting the delivery of a secure mission critical Communication Information System. You will be based onsite at RAF Leeming Mon‑Fri 8‑5 as well as providing out of hours support as part of an on‑call rota.
Essential
- Significant hands‑on experience with VMware technologies, including vSphere, vSAN, and vSphere NSX.
- Deep expertise in VMware products and solutions, including vCenter and VMware Cloud Foundation.
- Strong understanding of networking, storage, and system architecture in a virtualised environment.
- Experience with scripting and automation frameworks (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP) certification or equivalent.
- Expertise of Microsoft environments and technologies (365, ADUC, GPO, Certificate Services).
- Expertise in Windows Server 2019 onwards.
- Expertise in managing PKI, DNS, RDS and Web Application Proxies.
- Installing and configuring backup solutions (Veeam etc).
- A collaborative mindset, with the ability to share knowledge and contribute to a positive team environment.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and staying current with industry trends and technologies.
- Exceptional problem‑solving and analytical skills, with a proven track record of troubleshooting complex issues in a timely manner.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, enabling effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
Highly Desirable
- VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) certification or equivalent.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience with containerisation technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Proficiency in automation tools like PowerShell, Ansible, Gitlab for infrastructure as code.
- Experience with monitoring solutions such as vRealize Operations or Nagios.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Experience applying ITIL processes and service management principles.
Due to the nature of elements of the role, the successful applicant must be a UK National and may be required to successfully complete National Security Vetting which may require criminal record, security service and credit reference checks; qualification will also normally require a minimum UK residency of at least 5 years.
