We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Linux Engineer to join our innovative team at Inzpire LTD. Leveraging your deep expertise in Linux, you will collaborate with cross‑functional teams for fault resolution and to support product design, ensuring that solutions meet the highest standards of performance, reliability and security. As a Level 4 Linux Engineer you will be working as part of a small multi‑skilled engineering team supporting the delivery of a secure mission critical Communication Information System. You will be based onsite at RAF Leeming Mon‑Fri 8‑5 as well as providing out of hours support as part of an on‑call rota.
Essential
- Significant experience managing Linux systems in a production environment.
- Expertise in Linux distributions e.g. Red Hat, Ubuntu, or CentOS.
- Strong proficiency in shell scripting and automation using tools like Bash, Python, or Perl.
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware, KVM, or Docker.
- Deep understanding of networking concepts and protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, and firewalls.
- A collaborative mindset, with the ability to share knowledge and contribute to a positive team environment.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and staying current with industry trends and technologies.
- Exceptional problem‑solving and analytical skills, with a proven track record of troubleshooting complex issues in a timely manner.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, enabling effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
Highly Desirable
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Familiarity with container orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices.
- Experience with monitoring and logging solutions such as Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK stack.
- Proficient in using version control systems like Git.
- Experience with database systems, including MySQL, PostgreSQL, or NoSQL solutions.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Experience applying ITIL processes and service management principles.
Due to the nature of elements of the role, the successful applicant must be a UK National and may be required to successfully complete National Security Vetting which may require criminal record, security service and credit reference checks; qualification will also normally require a minimum UK residency of at least 5 years.
