The Role
As a Lead Operational Analysis Engineer, you will provide critical systems and operational analysis to support the design, evaluation and assurance of Typhoon mission systems for the RAF. Day-to-day, you’ll work as part of an embedded team within 41 Test and Evaluation Squadron, leading analysis activities, developing and assuring software tools, supporting flight test programmes and providing subject matter expert input to ensure safe and effective capability development.
Responsibilities
- Providing subject matter expert support to Typhoon mission and avionics systems
- Leading systems integration and flight test analysis activities
- Developing and assuring software tools for data processing, visualisation and reporting
- Applying verification and validation techniques to support airworthiness and safety
- Defining and supporting test plans and operational analysis activities
- Supervising and mentoring engineers within the analysis team
Essential experience
- Experience delivering technical analysis and problem solving across the engineering lifecycle
- Proficiency in software development for engineering applications such as Python, MATLAB or C++
- Background in systems engineering or aerospace engineering
- Experience working in safety critical or regulated environments
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Strong communication skills and ability to present technical findings
Essential qualifications
- Relevant STEM Bachelor’s Degree
- Eligibility or willingness to obtain UK Security Clearance

This role is 37 hours per week based at RAF Coningsby. Set working times are 08:00–16:30. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be expected.
