The Role: As a Senior Principal Cyber Security Consultant, you will have the opportunity to apply established and extensive cyber security professional expertise and judgement to complex business or operational situations to provide strategic advice to senior decision makers on all matters affected by cyber security considerations. Day-to-day, exercise leadership, teamwork and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders at all levels to achieve the desired outcomes. This will delight our customers, enhancing QinetiQ’s reputation in our chosen markets, inspiring and guiding junior colleagues whilst developing our cyber capabilities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing cyber security consultancy to customers and senior stakeholders, helping organisations understand and respond to evolving security challenges and business risks.
- Supporting the development of business cases and investment strategies by articulating the impact of cyber security risks on operational and organisational outcomes.
- Overseeing and applying the outputs of cyber security maturity assessments to identify strengths, areas for improvement and opportunities to enhance resilience.
- Interpreting cyber security risk models, audits and assurance activities to support informed decision-making and effective risk management across a range of environments.
- Assessing cyber vulnerabilities and organisational security maturity using recognised frameworks such as NIST, MITRE ATT&CK and UK Government guidance to provide actionable recommendations.
- Contributing innovative cyber security solutions, methodologies and bid responses that deliver value to customers and support business growth.
Essential experience of the Senior Principal Cyber Security Consultant:
- Prior experience leading cyber security activities within complex and ambiguous environments, building credibility and influencing senior stakeholders.
- Proven experience engaging, influencing and persuading stakeholders to achieve positive business and security outcomes.
- The ability to develop cyber security strategies, business cases and evidence-based recommendations within complex operational environments.
- Experience or demonstrable experience communicating the impact of cyber security on business and operational performance, including regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Previous experience applying and evaluating cyber security frameworks, standards and approaches such as NIST, ISO27001, MITRE ATT&CK and Zero Trust principles.
- Previous experience contributing to business development activities, including solution development, bid writing and winning new opportunities within government, defence or critical national infrastructure environments.
Essential qualifications for the Senior Principal Cyber Security Consultant:
- STEM degree or equivalent or relevant experience.
This role is 37 hours per week based at either our Portsmouth, Farnborough, Malvern, Amesbury, Lincoln or Bristol site with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week. Customer travel will be required.
