The Role

As a Noise & Vibration Engineer, you will directly contribute to the assessment and improvement of naval platform performance, helping our customers understand and reduce susceptibility to detection by underwater radiated noise.

Day‑to‑day, you’ll be involved in a mix of field trials, laboratory analysis, modelling, and reporting. You’ll work closely with a high‑performing team of engineers and data analysts on diverse projects, including experimental trials on ships and submarines, data acquisition, and technical modelling.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting noise and vibration measurements on naval platforms
  • Performing data analysis and technical modelling
  • Preparing detailed technical reports and presentations
  • Supporting experimental trials and project planning
  • Travelling to QinetiQ ranges, shipyards, and occasionally overseas
  • Collaborating with colleagues to develop new tools and methods

Essential experience of the Noise & Vibration Engineer:

  • Interest in engineering, science, or technical problem‑solving
  • Ability to analyse data and identify patterns
  • Comfort working in both field and laboratory environments
  • Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Flexible approach to travel and short‑notice deployment

Essential qualifications for the Noise & Vibration Engineer:

  • Practical or academic experience in engineering, science, or a technical discipline – formal degree not required
  • Practical experience or relevant technical skills

This role is 37 hours per week based at QinetiQ Rosyth. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be expected.
