As a Technical Author you will be responsible for the preparation of a range of technical documentation in support of QinetiQ Target Systems’ product range. Day‑to‑day you’ll be involved with documentation delivery identified by the Technical Publications Manager.
Responsibilities include:
- Preparing illustrated parts catalogues, maintenance manuals, operating manuals and training materials covering electrical and mechanical systems.
- Preparation of presentation material using the provided software.
- Generation of original graphics, including photographs and CAD images, for use in technical publications.
- General documentation support to departments and projects.
- Maintaining a good working knowledge of QTS products.
- Working within the department's general procedures (GP).
Essential Experience:
- Mechanical or Electronic Engineering background (including Quality Assurance).
- Technical publications experience ideally within an engineering environment.
- Understanding of CAD systems (SolidWorks) and manipulation of CAD models for presentation into documentation.
- Knowledge of CE marking regulations.
- Knowledge of FrameMaker, Adobe PDF Pro, and Microsoft Office suite.
Essential Qualifications:
- Mechanical or Electronic Engineering qualification (NVQ minimum).
Location & Working Hours:
- 37 hours per week based at Ashford (Kent) site with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week. Flexible working is available.
