The Role
As a highly skilled Software Engineer, you will join our engineering team supporting the development of new systems to modernise our Maritime Test & Evaluation facilities with a focus on digital signal processing. Day‑to‑day, you’ll be exposed to several exciting projects QinetiQ are operating on, but will also allow you to develop your talent, by working on a range of skills at the forefront of technology with colleagues who are recognised as experts in their field. Your work will contribute to our vision to be the chosen partner around the world innovating for our customer’s advantage to create, test and enable the effective use of new ways to save lives.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the gathering and translation of software requirements
- Designing, implementing and maintaining software solutions
- Developing new modules, fixing bugs and solving technical challenges
- Working closely with software and system engineers, project teams and other stakeholders
Essential experience of the Software Engineer:
- Strong relevant software development experience using C++ and Linux
- Excellent understanding of the software development life cycle
- Experience in the design, development, integration, test and delivery of complex software systems
- Experience of change control and configuration management systems
- Knowledge of signal processing techniques including analogue‑to‑digital (ADC) / digital‑to‑analogue (DAC) converters
Essential qualifications for the Software Engineer:
- Degree Level qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field or equivalent relevant industry experience
This role is 37 hours per week based at Farnborough. Hybrid working patterns are available. At our Farnborough site exciting work takes place at our state‑of‑the‑art facility, with high‑energy laser technologies, our 5m pressurised wind tunnel which has a simulation capability that is unique in the UK and our large research and development projects is a real hub of creativity, research and innovation.
