The Role: As a UAS Senior Technician, you’ll report to the Team Leader and will be responsible for the preparation, maintenance and operation of the diverse range of Uncrewed Systems assets for Test & Evaluation trials. Day-to-day, you’ll be involved with scheduled and routine maintenance of the Uncrewed Systems within the scope of the approved data and manuals and will include operating the Uncrewed Systems which the individual is trained and competent on.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Building, functional testing, repairing and the disassembly of Uncrewed Systems and associated payloads in accordance with approved data
- Operating and maintaining Uncrewed Systems during trials
- Problem solving and fault diagnosis on Uncrewed Systems and associated equipment
- Ensuring that every effort is made to achieve the Customer target requirements
- Applying all standards required by the relevant Air Publications, OEM Manuals, QinetiQ Operating Framework and CAA Regulatory Publications
Essential experience of the UAS Senior Technician:
- Have 3-5 years’ experience of working in a regulated and safety focussed environment on Uncrewed Systems
- UAS flying experience
- Experience and knowledge of a variety of Uncrewed Systems technologies and types
- Demonstrable high level of IT competence including the ability to learn new systems as required
- Using Online Manuals and maintenance recording solutions
Essential qualifications for the UAS Senior Technician:
- Possession of CAA Remote Piloting qualifications (Highly Desirable)
- Engineering qualification (Mechanical, Aerospace or Electrical) or have completed a relevant engineering apprenticeship
- Professionally registered as an Eng Tech (or capable of progressing to Eng Tech)
- Full UK Driving Licence
This role is 37 hours per week based at our Boscombe Down site with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week. Flexible working patterns are available where travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be expected.
Boscombe Down MOD Boscombe Down is a unique operational site featuring the longest military runway in the UK. Primarily focusing on providing testing, evaluation and support services for aviation and aerospace systems. Renowned for its extensive flight testing capabilities the site plays a vital role in the UK’s aviation defence contributing to the development, testing and airworthiness of military aircraft enhancing operational readiness and effectiveness.
Please note that all applicants for this role must be eligible for SC clearance, as a minimum.
