The Role
As a Agile Senior Programme Manager you will play a key role in driving complex programmes to success, ensuring teams deliver effectively and efficiently. You will help shape the way projects are run, mentor and develop other PMs, and make a real difference by improving delivery practices and outcomes across the organisation.
Day-to-day, you’ll manage programme teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, to scope, and within budget. You’ll work closely with stakeholders to maintain clear communication, manage expectations, and resolve issues quickly. Applying Agile and SAFe principles, you’ll drive improvements in delivery practices while mentoring and coaching junior PMs to build capability across the team. You’ll also contribute to planning, risk management, and reporting, ensuring programmes run smoothly and effectively.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and energise programme teams to deliver high-impact projects successfully
- Driving Agile and SAFe ways of working to improve efficiency and project outcomes
- Building strong stakeholder relationships and resolve issues proactively
- Mentoring and developing junior PMs, growing skills and team capability
- Overseeing planning, risk management, and reporting to keep programmes on track
- Championing continuous improvement to deliver smarter, more effective results
Essential experience of the Agile Senior Programme Manager:
- Leading complex programmes successfully using Agile and SAFe frameworks, with experience of waterfall frameworks being beneficial
- Experience of bidding and delivering £10m – £30M+ digital programmes
- Defence experience is highly desirable, but not essential
- Building and managing strong stakeholder relationships to drive results
- Delivering projects on time, to scope, and within budget under challenging conditions
Essential qualifications for the Agile Senior Programme Manager:
- Relevant degree or equivalent professional qualification
- PRINCE2, PMP, or equivalent project management certification

This role is 37 per week based at our Malvern, Farnborough or Bristol site. Hybrid working patterns are available. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be expected.
