Role Purpose:
QinetiQ's Systems Engineers are renowned for providing high quality, independent technical advice to a wide range of customers, in support of their major acquisition programmes, and for developing our own range of world-leading products.
We are looking for people who are interested in applying and developing their abilities across the system development lifecycle and across a number of domains; military, security and commercial.
There are opportunities to work in the following domains (project dependent):
- Communications & Information Systems.
- Cyber and Security.
- Radar and Electronic Warfare.
- Research & Innovation.
- Secured Navigation.
- Application of Systems Engineering principles across the lifecycle.
- Product Development.
- Service Delivery.
- Operational Analysis.
Key Accountabilities:
- Working as part of a team, guided and mentored by other Systems Engineers (project dependent).
- Supporting Systems Engineering projects in a variety of domains, for internal and external customers.
- Supporting engagement with external stakeholder communities.
- Supporting architecting and technical design activities.
- Supporting integration, test and acceptance activities.
- Supporting through-life planning activities.
- Collaborating with other members of project teams.
- Identifying potential issues such as delivery problems, lack of input information etc.
- Reliably managing information sets.
Key Capabilities/Knowledge:
- Have an interest in systems engineering.
- Have good analytical and logical thinking skills.
- Have an active approach to problem solving.
- Have questioning, listening, influencing and general interpersonal skills.
- Have developing oral, written communication and presentation skills.
- Be a self-motivated team member who takes ownership of tasking whilst operating collaboratively within a dynamic team.
- Be able to communicate clearly and to present to small groups.
- Possess a flexible approach to tasking.
- Be able to work and produce consistent results in response to direction.
- Be prepared to travel to customer and QinetiQ sites on a project-dependent basis to support project delivery.
- Be prepared to go through the Government Vetting process.
Experience & Qualifications:
Be working towards a degree or equivalent experience with a key focus on Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM), particularly covering Product Development, Systems Engineering, Electrical, Electronics, Communications, Radar, Information and Computing Engineering.

Security:
Many of our roles at QinetiQ are subject to national security vetting. Applicants who already hold the appropriate level of vetting may be able to transfer it upon appointment, subject to approval.
