The Role

As a Junior Building Services Engineer, you will support the maintenance and operation of critical infrastructure that underpins essential defence operations while developing your technical skills and experience.

Day-to-day, you’ll assist with planned, preventative and reactive maintenance across electrical and mechanical systems, gaining hands-on experience with building services, plant and equipment while being supported by an experienced team.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting installation, planned, preventative and corrective maintenance across site services, plant and buildings
  • Assisting with fault finding and basic diagnostics across electrical systems
  • Working with the wider team to prioritise maintenance activities
  • Supporting compliance with health, safety and environmental procedures and standards
  • Assisting with contractor supervision and learning site processes
  • Participating in the on-call rota with training and support

Essential experience:

  • Strong interest in building services or electrical engineering
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems
  • Willingness to learn and develop technical skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Positive attitude and proactive approach to work
  • Good communication skills

Essential qualifications:

  • BS7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing or equivalent
  • NVQ Level 3 / ONC / OND / BTEC Level 3 in Electrical Engineering
  • Full UK driving licence

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Pendine site with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week. Set working times are 07:30 – 16:15 Monday to Thursday. Working 07:30 – 15:45 on the first Friday with the second Friday off or a half-day Friday pattern may be considered. Shift patterns for this role may include participation in an on-call rota and weekend working.

Pendine is renowned for its extensive capabilities in testing and evaluating defence systems, particularly in the fields of weapons and vehicle performance. Pendine plays a critical role in the UK’s defence landscape providing essential services that contribute to the development and assurance of military hardware.
