Role Purpose:

The Maritime Engineering Group sits within the Maritime and Land business of QinetiQ. The team delivers hydrodynamic testing and design consultancy services. Hydrodynamic problem solving forms a significant part of the project work within the group – identifying a methodology for solving a client’s hydrodynamic issues, mathematically or through model testing.

We are looking for graduates with a good background understanding of Naval Architecture to join our technical teams. The primary focus of the job will be the delivery of technical projects relating to surface ship and submarine hydrodynamic subject areas. The likely areas of interest include propulsor and propeller design, dynamic stability, quasi-static stability, seakeeping, resistance and propulsion. The work will include use of QinetiQ’s hydrodynamic facilities and industry standard or bespoke numerical simulation tools.

The role will require presenting work to internal forums and coordinating with Project Managers and technical leads to deliver the work to time, cost and quality. Participation in business support activities will also be required including bidding and planning activities through the provision of task estimates and breakdowns of task descriptions.

Other key skills/traits we are looking for are:

  • Highly motivated, dynamic with a positive attitude and values of integrity, collaboration and performance.
  • Keen desire to develop and grow their technical skills and understanding.
  • Some experience of data analysis. Experience of programming (Matlab, Python etc.) would be nice but not necessary.
  • Good communication skills, both written and presentational. Including the ability to exchange complex information.
  • Good team working, organisation, communication and attention to detail.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Working collaboratively with customers and colleagues to ensure the customers’ requirements are met and providing innovative solutions to customers’ problems.
  • Ensure the work is conducted in a safe manner, highlighting hazards and potentially unsafe practices to Team Lead.
  • Actively participate and encourage increased collaboration across the team.

Entry Requirements:

The applicant should have a BEng / MEng in Naval Architecture or be graduating in 2026 with the qualification.

How to apply: Please fill in the application and include both a CV and a covering letter.

  • Coaching and Mentoring

  • Matched contribution pension scheme, with life assurance
  • Flexible Benefits package
  • Employee discount portal
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Employee-led networks
