As an Armourer Large Calibre, you will enable the safe, compliant, and effective maintenance and operation of large, medium, and small calibre weapon systems, directly supporting high-integrity test and evaluation activities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the maintenance, setup, operation and testing of small, medium and large calibre weapon systems
- Ensuring compliance with safety, security and engineering governance including EMERs, AESPs and JSPs
- Conducting fault diagnosis, repairs and preventative maintenance activities
- Supporting trials activities including data collection, analysis and reporting
- Working with stakeholders to ensure safe, compliant and effective delivery of test and evaluation tasks
Essential experience:
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems with ability to diagnose faults and perform intermediate maintenance
- Solid working knowledge of safety practices including risk assessments and hazard identification
- Experience supporting test and evaluation activities including data collection and reporting
- Strong understanding of security protocols including Section 5 requirements and secure storage procedures
Essential qualifications:
- Recognised engineering apprenticeship/NVQ or equivalent military/industry qualification
This role is full time, based at Shoeburyness. Working hours are Monday - Thursday 7.30am - 4.30pm and Friday 7.30am - 1.30pm. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be expected.
