Join us as a Senior Project Manager for the UK Defence, Science and Technology function of QinetiQ at our Fort Halstead site, where you will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology in partnership with some of the most brilliant minds.

The Role

As a Senior Project Manager you will contribute to the successful delivery of a High Value Weapons Research and Development portfolio. The portfolio is one of several programme areas within the “Advanced Weapons” IDT and is responsible for delivery new technology to the MOD and commercial customers.

Day-to-day, you’ll lead cross functional teams and develop close working relationships with customers and QinetiQ teams, supporting team leaders and wider project stakeholders, working closely with operational and engineering teams to take current technology to the next level.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Development and maintenance of positive engagement with project customers, partners and suppliers
  • Delivery of the project outputs, to agreed baseline (customer satisfaction, time, cost, quality, cash and sales)
  • Maintenance of forecasts (both financial and resource demand signal) for sales and delivery which reflects the up-to-date expectations for the work
  • Application of governance requirements (including lifecycle, project & independent reviews as appropriate) for foundation sales and delivery work
  • Bid activity and opportunity development

Essential experience of the Senior Project Manager

  • Experience of leading a business, projects, programmes, portfolios or P3 function and successfully delivering complex projects
  • Leadership: being able to influence and align others towards the vision for the project, and to empower & inspire people to achieve success
  • Stakeholder Management: being able to identify, plan and implement actions to positively engage parties with an interest in, or influence over, the project outputs

Essential qualifications for the Senior Project Manager

  • Demonstrable capability to APM or equivalent

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Fort Halstead site and this is hybrid-based role with an average expectation of 3 days per week onsite.

Our facilities at Fort Halstead, located in Kent, focus on a wide range of defence-related research, particularly weapons systems and military technology. Modern laboratories enable engineers and scientists to conduct high-tech research in material science, systems engineering, and advanced simulation techniques.
