Join QinetiQ’s Portsmouth Technology Park (PTP) site as a Senior Scientist. In this role you will lead advanced radar and signal‑processing activities, providing technical authority and direction across complex projects that support our customers and operational capability.

Hours: 37 per week. Hybrid working patterns are available. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites is expected. SC clearance is required.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and optimisation of models, simulations and analytical tools.
  • Provide technical leadership across radar and signal‑processing projects.
  • Design and assess advanced signal‑processing chains and algorithms.
  • Interpret complex datasets and present clear recommendations to customers.
  • Support bid activities and technical governance.
  • Mentor and develop junior scientists and engineers.
Essential Experience
  • Significant experience in radar, signal processing, algorithm development or modelling and simulation.
  • Proven ability to lead complex technical work packages or projects.
  • Strong background in applied mathematics and physics.
  • Programming experience in MATLAB or other languages such as Python or C++.
  • Experience working with customers and stakeholders, influencing technical decisions.
  • Demonstrable mentoring or technical leadership experience.
Essential Qualifications
  • Degree in Science or Engineering (Physics, Mathematics or similar).
  • Substantial relevant industry or research experience.
Eligibility
