The Role
As a Scientist, you will play a key role in developing and applying advanced radar and signal processing solutions that directly support our customers and help deliver operational advantage. Day‑to‑day, you’ll be working on modelling, simulation and analysis activities, developing algorithms, processing real‑world data and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to solve complex technical challenges across a range of radar and signal processing projects.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and optimising models and simulations to support radar and signal processing studies
- Designing and analysing signal processing chains and algorithms
- Interpreting complex datasets and presenting findings to technical and non‑technical audiences
- Supporting bid and project activities through technical input and analysis
- Collaborating with engineers, scientists and customers across a range of programmes
- Mentoring and supporting junior team members
Essential experience of the Scientist:
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Coding experience in MATLAB or another high‑level language such as Python or C++
- Experience developing or using modelling and simulation tools
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly
- Experience working in a collaborative technical environment
Essential qualifications for the Scientist:
- Degree in Physics, Mathematics or a closely related discipline
- Equivalent relevant experience in a scientific or engineering role
This role is 37 hours per week based at Portsmouth Technology Park (PTP) with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week. Hybrid working patterns are available. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be expected. Please note that all applicants for this role must be eligible for SC clearance, as a minimum.
