The Role
As a General Maintenance Operative / Caretaker, you’ll play a key role in maintaining the safety, compliance and functionality of buildings across site. Day-to-day, you’ll carry out a mix of planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs across building fabric, ensuring facilities remain operational, safe and fit for purpose.
Responsibilities:
- Carrying out general building maintenance and fabric repairs across site
- Conducting routine inspections including fire doors, fire stopping and water systems (L8 checks)
- Responding to reactive maintenance issues and making them safe
- Supporting planned preventative maintenance activities to ensure compliance
- Working collaboratively within a small team and providing cover when required
- Participating in a 24/7 on-call rota (following initial training period)
Essential Experience:
- Experience delivering general building maintenance in a facilities or site environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic IT literacy
- Willingness to participate in a call-out rota
Essential Qualifications:
- Full UK driving licence
This role is 37 hours per week based at our Malvern site. Set working times are 8:00am – 4:30pm (8:00am – 4:00pm on Fridays) with some flexibility around start and finish times. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be required, including occasional visits to our Bristol site.
