THE ROLE
The Security Advisor & Deputy Crypto Custodian provides critical support to the Company Security Controller, ensuring comprehensive security protocols are maintained across the organisation. This multifaceted role encompasses personnel security, physical security management, travel security coordination, and cryptographic material handling. The position is instrumental in maintaining the company's accreditations and ensuring compliance with all relevant security requirements and regulations.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- The role holder will manage the full lifecycle of security clearances for staff and contractors, maintaining accurate vetting records and providing expert guidance on National Security Vetting processes.
- They will safeguard physical security through access control management, CCTV monitoring where required, and implementation of protective measures across company facilities.
- Travel security responsibilities include providing risk assessments for international travel, coordinating with external military and defence sites, and maintaining compliant procedures for inward and outward defence visits.
- As Deputy Crypto Custodian, you will ensure cryptographic materials are properly stored, handled, and accounted for according to HMG baseline measures, maintaining accurate records and emergency protocols while ensuring all personnel working with COMSEC materials hold appropriate clearances.
The position requires exceptional attention to detail, discretion in handling sensitive information, and the ability to communicate effectively across all organisational levels whilst contributing to the company's broader strategic security objectives.
THE PERSON
- Experience in security management, preferably within a defence or government context.
- Understanding of National Security Vetting processes.
- Knowledge of physical security protocols for security accredited facilities.
- Cryptographic Custodian qualification (or ability to obtain).
- Strong attention to detail and record-keeping skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Due to the nature of elements of the role, the successful applicant must be a UK National and may be required to successfully complete National Security Vetting which may require criminal record, security service and credit reference checks; qualification will also normally require a minimum UK residency of at least 5 years.
