Role Type: Fixed Term – Full Time
The Company: We are a highly innovative and rapidly growing defence and technology company that design, develop, and deliver some of the world’s most advanced defence related training, products, and services. We were recently crowned Employer of the Year at the British Ex-Forces in Business Awards 2023. We have been listed as one of the ‘100 Best Large Companies to Work For’ in the UK and Midlands by Best Companies several times as well as achieving ‘Best Companies 3 Star Accreditation’ and a rating of ‘world‑class’ for our employee engagement on a number of occasions. We are also proud to have been honoured with two Queen’s Awards for Enterprise in Innovation, for our next‑generation GECO military mission planning system.
The Role: We are looking for an existing instructor with experience in training delivery and lesson writing to support the growth of an existing team, supporting a number of programmes and projects, especially in the Mini or Small UAS and Tactical RPAS categories. The projects you will be involved in will be UK‑based but, as part of the Inzpire team, there may be opportunities to be involved in wider projects across UK Defence, International and Civil UAS opportunities. The role will be varied in focus and will include design and delivery of UAS operational training and tactics in accordance with current Defence System Approach to Training (DSAT) methodology. We have an immediate vacancy with a start date in the 3–6‑month timeframe. Please let us know your availability when contacting us. The immediate role will initially be on a 3‑year fixed term contract but with aspiration to offer permanent roles if the opportunity arises. Training will be provided to qualify and certify a successful applicant on each UAS type needed for their instructional role.
The Person: Inzpire is looking for dynamic, proactive individuals with a ‘can do attitude’ who are capable of working within a military training environment with minimal supervision and are keen to contribute their own experience, suggesting ideas to continually improve the training delivery. At that time the role will require flexible working or shift work in support of our customers’ training needs. Prior military or a uniformed service background is highly desirable, especially in the operation of UAS in the land environment; all services and cap badges will be considered. Additionally, if further UAS experience has been gained after leaving military service in a civil capacity, this will also be considered favourably. However, we are also keen to build on the experience of highly experienced civilian UAS Pilots who may not have served in the military but have outstanding skills and experience in UAS operations.
Essential Criteria:
- Experienced Fixed Wing and Multi‑Rotor UAS operator (evidenced with Logbook).
- Experience in teaching or instructing others.
- Valid Driving Licence.
Desirable Criteria:
- Military Experience.
- Civil UAS Operations Experience – at least 2 years of logged UAS operations.
- Letter of Recommendation from military chain of command or past civil UAS employer.
- A2 CofC.
- Civilian (CAA) UAS Qualifications – GVC MR and FW (both essential for some roles).
- Mini/Small‑UAS Instructional Experience (e.g. Wasp/Desert Hawk 3/Puma/Eagle or equivalent).
- Military RPAS or Tactical UAS Pilot / Sensor Operator experience.
- Instructor Qualifications: accredited to Level 3 Award in Education are highly desirable, but other instructional qualifications will be considered including Defence Train the Trainer (DTTT) or Aircrew Instructor Course (AIC) qualifications etc.
- Familiarity with JSP822 Defence System Approach to Training (DSAT) methodology.
- Experience in ‘Special Operations’ including Ground & Air operators.
- Extant Security Clearance (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV) highly desirable.
- Familiarity with MAA RA 1600 series.
- Familiarity with CAA UAS category regulations.
Location and Hours of Work: The place of work will predominantly be in the vicinity of Wiltshire to support a customer but may require travel to other parts of mainland UK to deliver courses, up to 40 hours a week. Where delivery takes place away from their primary work location, travel, accommodation and subsistence costs will be covered, however, it is expected that employees will have their own vehicle. Due to the nature of elements of the role, the successful applicant must be a UK National and may be required to successfully complete National Security Vetting which may require criminal record, security service and credit reference checks; qualification will also normally require a minimum UK residency of at least 5 years.
How to Apply: If you have the required background and are interested in joining a high‑performing team, supporting the delivery of exceptional award‑winning products and services to our customers, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please click apply and follow the instructions to upload your CV.
