As a Production Engineer within the allocated Design Team at QinetiQ’s Gosport site, you will deliver design solutions that are fit for manufacture, effect tangible improvements to delivery of the Design & Manufacture teams, and support the challenges of low‑volume production R&D.
Responsibilities
- Lead production engineering/DFX aspects at formal design reviews, explaining the thinking behind concepts with confidence.
- Lead the delivery of robust production engineering solutions, balancing competing requirements to achieve optimal outcomes while clearly articulating and managing assumptions, risks and change across the project lifecycle.
- Apply independent inspection and measurement to support a structured, scientific approach to problem‑solving in the design, manufacture and delivery of complex systems and components.
- Play a key role in governance and safety, contributing to Hazard Identification (HazID) activities and producing or reviewing local test and manufacturing procedures.
Essential Experience
- Understanding and experience in coatings, corrosion, materials science, materials selection, and concept design & development.
- Experience designing technical hardware solutions and translating them into a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working within a bespoke/R&D low‑volume production environment.
- Significant experience creating manufacturing plans, job sheets and manufacturing process specifications.
- Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing engineering fundamentals.
Essential Qualifications
- HNC/HND/Degree in Aeronautical, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Production Engineering (or equivalent experience).
Job Details
- 37 hours per week.
- Based at the Gosport site with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week.
- Applicants must be eligible for SC clearance as a minimum.
