Role Type: Early Careers – Year in industry
Role Purpose: To support human science research and activities within the Human Performance team. This may include human factor, physiology, psychology and other human science projects, trials and literature reviews. Assist with the organisation and delivery of other Human Performance Team activities such as Professional Day and work experience visits.
Key Accountabilities:
- Build experience in facility (e.g. thermal chamber) and operational trials.
- Support the collection, handling, and analysis of trial data.
- Assist with data analysis and documentation.
- Support reporting: preparing summary reports, data dashboards, or technical updates to present to project teams.
- Contribute to a defined research project, setting milestones and managing time to meet deadlines for project progression.
- Adhere to Health & Safety regulations (e.g., COSHH).
- Troubleshoot: identifying deviations in experiments or processes, investigating root causes, and implementing corrective actions under supervision.
- Communicate and collaborate: actively participate in meetings, present results, and contribute to technical discussions.
- Show proactivity by seeking opportunities to learn new techniques and improve ways of working.
- Act as an ambassador: represent the university and the company professionally.
Entry Requirements: Interested in human science and human performance, covering subjects such as psychology, human factors, physiology, sports science, and engineering. The ideal candidate is studying one of these or similar subjects and has an interest in applying it to operational research and laboratory-based studies.
