We’re looking for an Electronic Technician to join our Farnborough team. Whether you’re an experienced technician or just starting out after completing an electrical/electronics apprenticeship or qualification, this is a great opportunity to build your career working with advanced technology alongside some of the brightest minds in the industry.
As an Electronic Technician, you’ll play a key role in ensuring customer systems meet Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and TEMPEST requirements, supporting the safety, security and performance of critical defence and national security systems. In this hands‑on role, you’ll be involved in the planning, setup and execution of EMC/TEMPEST tests, working directly with customer equipment and contributing to high‑quality technical documentation under UKAS accreditation.
Responsibilities:
- Supporting the development of EMC test plans under guidance
- Setting up customer equipment for EMC and TEMPEST testing
- Conducting EMC/TEMPEST measurements using specialist RF equipment
- Analyzing test data and contributing to detailed technical test reports
- Working closely with senior engineers and customers to ensure smooth test delivery
Candidate Profile:
- A strong interest in RF engineering, EMC or electronics testing
- Hands‑on experience with electronics or RF measurements (including during an apprenticeship, college course or first role)
- Ability to write clear technical notes or documents
- Good communication skills and confidence working with customers
- Willingness to travel occasionally in the UK or overseas
- Basic ability to use equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analysers or antennas (training provided)
Essential Qualifications:
- Electrical or electronics‑based Apprenticeship (NVQ Level 3)
- HNC/HND in an electrical or electronics discipline

Location & Working Hours:
This role is 37 hours per week based at Farnborough. Set working times are Monday–Friday, on‑site five days per week. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be expected.
