The Role

As a Facility Manager, you’ll be responsible to the Group Leader for all QinetiQ facilities at Shoeburyness (Environmental Test Centre) and liaising with key personnel to ensure the safe, secure and efficient delivery of company operations. Day‑to‑day, you’ll ensure the safe operation of our facilities, making sure all facilities have suitable and sufficient safe systems of work to cover ongoing activities.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure proper governance, working to and abiding by our legal obligations and Operating Framework
  • Responsible for ensuring the safe operation to cover testing activities
  • Hold the teams to the highest housekeeping standards using 5S or similar approach
  • Ensure the efficient operation of our facilities with all buildings, plant and equipment available on demand in line with planned work programmes
  • Lead on the Delivery and Operational Improvement activities as delegated by the Group Lead
  • Support the Site Security Lead, working with Project Managers and other staff to ensure we fulfil our security obligations

Essential Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience of Facilities Management
  • Good understanding of quality, environmental, health and safety legislation, standards and practices
  • In-depth understanding and experience of Process Improvement and Change Management
  • Ability to build relationships and effectively communicate with people at all levels, both internal and external to QinetiQ, including customers, suppliers and other stakeholders
  • Ability to encourage collaboration between groups and individual team members
  • Knowledge of security procedures and policies

Essential Qualifications

  • Degree in Science or Engineering, or equivalent (desirable)
  • IOSH Qualified
  • UK Driver’s Licence

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Shoeburyness site with a minimum average site attendance of four days per week. Flexible working hours are available.

Location

QinetiQ Shoeburyness is a significant test and evaluation facility specialising in defence and security technologies. The site is focused on Environmental Testing including the evaluation of various ordnance, explosives and related systems. Implementing measures to ensure that testing activities comply with environmental regulations and minimise ecological impact.

Additional Information

Many roles in QinetiQ are subject to national security vetting. Applicants who already hold the appropriate level of vetting may be able to transfer it upon appointment. A number of roles are also subject to additional restrictions, which means factors such as nationality or previous nationalities may affect the roles that you can be employed in. All applicants for this role must be eligible for SC clearance, as a minimum.
