The Role
As an Assistant Commercial Manager, you will be a strategic thinker, supporting the overall business objectives for growth and innovation in the UK and internationally, demonstrating an awareness and forethought beyond the task at hand.
Day-to-day, you’ll provide commercial support across multi-disciplined Capture and Delivery Teams as required in accordance with the established commercial strategy. This strategy will contribute to our Business Winning and should include all aspects of legal (T’s and C’s), pricing, Intellectual Property as appropriate to the grade, in addition to contributing to effective and efficient contractual management of contracts within the portfolio.
Your responsibilities will include:
- To manage a portfolio of multiple bids and or contracts at the same time
- To draft (creation or amendments) of business-to-business agreements – and able to advise when each may be applicable
- To be able to develop further interaction with stakeholders / other functions to achieve business objectives
- To support strategic deals that endure past the first engagement
- To use data to analyse trends and influence decision making on contract strategy
- To support negotiation strategy and planning, capable of influencing up to programme level
Essential experience of the Commercial Manager:
- Significant experience working as a Commercial Manager
- A strong understanding of contract management
- A strong background in pre-contract work
- Experience leading negotiations
Essential qualifications for the Assistant Commercial Manager:
- University degree or comparable previous work experience

This role is 37 hours per week based at either our Farnborough or Boscombe Down site. Hybrid working patterns are available. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be expected.

MOD Boscombe Down is a unique operational site featuring the longest military runway in the UK. Primarily focusing on providing testing, evaluation and support services for aviation and aerospace systems. Renowned for its extensive flight testing capabilities the site plays a vital role in the UK’s aviation defence contributing to the development, testing and airworthiness of military aircraft enhancing operational readiness and effectiveness.
