We are looking for a Junior Technologist, Childrenswear to support the technical team of a leading Brand. The successful candidate will deliver efficient technical processes and drive product quality across children’s garments and accessories. Through collaboration with buying and design, you will also help to ensure the products developed are technically feasible and in line with pricing structure. In addition, you will provide ongoing technical input across all teams on a day-to-day basis. Ideally, this is a full-time role but depending on level of experience, our client would be open to considering part-time hours.
What will you do as a Junior Technologist?
- Ensure adherence to the required sealing process from initial prototype to production sign off (including critical path adherence and management).
- Work with design/buying teams during product development to get as many samples ‘right first time’ as possible.
- Ensure all products are effectively managed through the appropriate testing and care/safety labelling requirements including the management of new fabrics/components as well as the collection of all sustainable credentials.
- Actively adopt a Quality Assurance approach to all areas of role.
- Review and ensure product compliance at category level.
- Develop an understanding of technical capability of suppliers through product assessment, dialogue/processes and supplier/factory visits.
- Raise issues with line manager and develop an approach to address these.
- Support the Risk Assessment process to ensure product feasible, safe and legal products.
- Work with suppliers to help understand the most cost-effective production methods to deliver the required quality standards.
- Understand block/size requirements on relevant category and ensure they are consistently applied across all products (clothing).
- Drive product forward in terms of fit, construction and technical performance in order to meet customer expectations.
- Alongside the Technologist, carry out regular market research for current/new products and labelling.
- Manage and respond to issues highlighted by the DC, working with buying and merchandising teams as well as suppliers, to ensure any issues are resolved in a timely manner and a CAP put in place to ensure issues are eliminated for current and future product.
- Liaise with offices to monitor production offshore.
What will you need to succeed as our Junior Technologist?
- Proven experience at Assistant Technologist level.
- Degree educated or equivalent in recognised textile qualification.
- Proven experience product: childrenswear and/or accessories, as appropriate, with an appreciation of the commercial requirements of trading.
- Experience of sustainable fabrics and certification.
- To demonstrate passion for the Brand and getting the right quality product in stores for customers.
