Our Client is a leading and established supplier to leading high street names. We are recruiting a Fabric Technologist to work alongside their product development and technical teams, advising on fabric standards and procedures, sustainability, compliance, and care labelling.
Responsibilities
- Providing fabric technical support to the internal team and customers
- Ensure fabric is quality-managed to meet performance standards and market regulations while maintaining critical path dates
- Proactively troubleshoot possible production issues regarding fabric characteristics, technical construction, lead times, and colours, and provide solutions or recommendations to mitigate risks in bulk production
- Manage test reports, implementing corrective actions or solutions where fabric performance falls below expected standards
- Approve wash care and fibre compositions
- Manage bulk fabric and colour continuity
- Critical path management
- Maintain a database of fabric suppliers, keeping certificates and actioning audits
- Manage REACH and chemical compliance
- Manage BCI cotton platform and other sustainable fabric verification processes (including GRS)
- Ensure customer raw materials policies are followed
- Stay informed about new fabric developments and innovations that may benefit the business or customers
Candidate Requirements
- In-depth knowledge of woven and knitted fabric production and testing processes
- Confident in implementing robust and efficient fabric management systems
- Understanding of sustainable fabric standards (Textile Exchange, BCI, etc.) and verification processes (scope certificates, transaction certificates, etc.)
- Informed on REACH regulations and other relevant global substances legislation
- Attention to detail, efficient, and able to work calmly under pressure
- Previous experience working with M&S, Next, SGS/Interlink systems is desirable
- Able to work independently and communicate confidently with colleagues and clients
