We are working exclusively with a leading global investment manager on a senior engineering appointment. The role leads the cloud hosting function, a team of 50 supporting 2,500 developers globally, and sits on the senior leadership team.

The Role

You will have full ownership of three platform teams: AWS, Azure, and Kubernetes hosting. Each team has its own leadership; your focus is setting technical direction, driving the teams to operate at the leading edge, and abstracting complexity on behalf of the wider engineering community. Beyond delivery, you will be expected to challenge the senior leadership team technically, bringing an external perspective and ensuring the organisation remains forward-looking. The role has arisen following the departure of the incumbent and is being hired externally.

What We're Looking For

  • Deep hands-on experience across AWS, Azure and Kubernetes at enterprise scale
  • Track record leading platform or infrastructure teams with modern product engineering practices
  • Experience with highly available, fault tolerant systems and zero-downtime intraday deployments
  • Strong infrastructure as code (Terraform or equivalent), GitOps and CI/CD
  • Security, risk and compliance ownership in regulated financial services
  • Confident senior stakeholder management and the ability to coach and develop engineering teams
  • Active in the technology community — open source, CNCF, speaking at events or equivalent
