Head of Data Governance – Investment Management
The opportunity
A global fund manager has moved from fragmented, business-line technology to a single platform-first model. A new data architecture function now sits above that platform. This role leads data governance within it: setting the standards from scratch, implementing them, and making sure the business adopts them.
The role
- Design and implement the data governance framework, covering data quality, lineage, ownership and controls.
- Define the standards, templates and requirements every data product must meet, so delivery is consistent across business lines.
- Build governance and compliance into the delivery process from the start, rather than adding them afterwards.
- Work with senior business stakeholders to secure buy-in and embed governance in day-to-day practice.
- Keep the framework practical and proportionate, so teams use it rather than work around it.
This is a governance and architecture role, not a data platform or data engineering role.
About you
- You have set up and embedded a data governance framework at least once, from design through to adoption.
- You can show how you won over business stakeholders and changed how teams work with data.
- You have strong working knowledge of data quality, lineage, metadata and ownership models.
- You prefer governance that is clear and workable over governance that only looks good on paper.
- Financial services experience is useful but not essential.
