We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Process Safety Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will support the development and implementation of process safety management systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. You will work closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate risks. This role will deliver safety consultancy and experience to our varied customers in oil & gas, water, petrochemical and energy transition sector.
More about the role:
- Assist in the design and development of process safety systems and controls.
- Work with clients to understand and improve functional safety management at their facilities.
- Support senior engineers in the delivery of hazard identification and risk assessments (HIRA) for new and existing process designs.
- Support the engineering team in the development of safety instrumented systems (SIS) and layers of protection analysis (LOPA).
- Participate in the design review process to ensure safety considerations are integrated into engineering projects.
- Collaborate with design engineers to develop and implement inherently safer design principles.
- Assist in the preparation of safety design documentation, including process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
- Deliver DSEAR assessments in line with industry standards.
- Stay updated with industry best practices and regulatory changes related to process safety.
- Lead in Process Hazard Analysis and other FPSA’s.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in process safety, preferably in the oil & gas, petrochemical or energy transition sectors.
- Good understanding of process safety principles and regulatory requirements.
- Membership of an engineering institute and working towards professional registration.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with HAZOP, LOPA, and other risk assessment methodologies.
- Knowledge of industry standards such as DSEAR, COMAH, and CDM.
- Experience with process simulation, modelling tools and PHA software tools would be beneficial.
