Job Description
QED Legal is proud to be working alongside one of Scotland’s most admired law firms to recruit a Private Client Partner for their Edinburgh office. This opportunity is with a firm ranked in the Legal 500 that boasts the lowest staff turnover of any practice listed — a reflection of its supportive, collegiate culture and long-term approach to growth. Unlike firms chasing aggressive expansion, this practice is pursuing steady, sustainable development through 2025 and 2026, with a clear vision that prioritises quality over volume.
This role offers not just a seat at the table, but the chance to truly make the Edinburgh Private Client offering your own. While the firm has a strong and well-established private client practice across its network, the Edinburgh arm is poised for growth and presents a unique platform for an experienced solicitor to shape, lead and grow the team locally. You will be supported by a collaborative partnership group and a strong client base, but given real autonomy to develop the department in your own style — combining high-quality work with strategic influence and space to build something lasting.
You will handle a wide-ranging and complex caseload including succession and estate planning, inheritance tax mitigation, trusts and executries, asset protection for high-net-worth individuals, and bespoke wealth structuring for business owners, landowners, and families. Many of your clients will require thoughtful, tailored advice — often in conjunction with corporate, property, and family law colleagues — and you’ll play a key role in delivering that joined-up service.
This is an ideal position for a solicitor with at least eight years of PQE and demonstrable experience in private client law. STEP membership or equivalent would be an advantage, but what matters most is deep technical expertise, commerciality, and a natural ability to lead and inspire. You’ll also take on responsibility for mentoring junior lawyers and developing new business relationships, while inheriting an existing, loyal client base to build upon.
The firm offers a refreshingly grounded and people-focused working culture, with no unrealistic billing targets and a real emphasis on long-term client care and professional wellbeing. For the right person, there is a clear path to equity and a leadership role that genuinely carries weight.
If you’re looking for a Partner-level move where you can combine strategic control with high-calibre work and genuine work-life balance, this is an outstanding opportunity. For a confidential discussion, contact Neil Campbell at QED Legal via the details provided.
