If you’ve ever looked at the Newcastle legal market and thought, “I could build something properly good there”, this is probably the conversation to have.

I’m working with a leading regional law firm that is looking for a senior Commercial Property lawyer to take real ownership of its Newcastle Real Estate offering.

This is not a “come in and somehow create a department from scratch” role. There is already work. There is already a substantial Real Estate team behind you. There is already the infrastructure, reputation and support you need.

What they want now is someone senior enough to take the Newcastle market by the scruff of the neck and make it their own. The wider Real Estate team is more than 30 people strong and is already one of the firm’s biggest success stories. You would have access to that technical strength and resourcing, but with genuine autonomy to develop the Newcastle presence.

They are open minded on level. You might already be a Partner. You might be a Legal Director who wants more ownership. You might be a Senior Associate who has reached the point where you’re thinking, “I’m ready for more than another title change and another couple of years waiting.”

What matters is that you’re credible in the commercial property market, you enjoy building relationships and you have the appetite to help grow something. There is an existing stream of work to build from, so nobody is expecting you to arrive carrying a £500k following under your arm. Equally, this is not a role for someone who simply wants to inherit a caseload and disappear into it.

The opportunity is in shaping the team, developing the client base and becoming a genuine senior figure in the North East market. For the right person, that could mean a very significant career move.

If you’re a senior Commercial Property lawyer in Newcastle, or you’re considering returning to the North East and this sounds like the sort of platform you’ve been waiting for, speak to Neil Campbell at QED Legal in confidence.
