An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced Real Estate Development Partner to join a highly regarded, full-service law firm based in Newcastle upon Tyne.

The Team: You will be joining a Commercial Real Estate Development team with an enviable market reputation. The team advises on a broad range of development matters across multiple sectors, including:
- Waste, Energy & Renewables
- Residential development
- Healthcare
- Leisure & Hospitality
- Retail
The client base includes national organisations, household names and well-established regional clients, offering exposure to high-value, strategic, project-based development work.
The Role: This is a senior appointment offering the opportunity to lead and shape development projects, play a key role in client relationships and contribute to the continued growth of the practice.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing and negotiating site acquisitions and development projects, including conditional contracts, options, promotion agreements, sub-sales and forward funding arrangements
- Advising on legal structures and heads of terms at the negotiation stage
- Handling complex title issues, easements, covenants, ransoms and environmental matters
- Drafting and negotiating a wide range of overage and clawback arrangements
- Drafting and negotiating planning agreements and statutory agreements, alongside wider infrastructure-related development work
- Working closely with architects, planning consultants, counsel and other professional advisers
- Supporting strategic matters and client relationship management at partner level
- Delegating to, supervising and mentoring junior fee earners
- Playing an active role in business development, team growth and market profile
About You: The successful candidate will:
- Have significant experience in real estate development work, ideally 8+ yearsβ PQE
- Be confident handling complex, high-value development transactions
- Demonstrate strong client-facing and relationship-management skills
- Have an interest in mentoring, supervision and developing junior lawyers
- Take a proactive and commercial approach to business development
- Align with a firm culture that values collaboration, professionalism and long-term client relationships
