International Firm with a leading Commercial and Technology team is looking for an Associate with between 1 and 4 Years' PQE to join them. You can be based in either the Edinburgh or Glasgow office, with hybrid working available (3 days in office).
This is a truly unique opportunity: this team is an entirely self-sustaining practice - there is no 'north-shoring' of work from London or other English offices - all the matters you work on will be generated and led by the Partners in Scotland. Secondly, this team does no corporate support at all, meaning you get to focus exclusively on carving out a transactional and advisory tech and commercial practice (and with none of your time written-off!).
Work is an even split of transactional/advisory commercial and tech mandates, together with some soft IP and data work. All clients are blue-chip/international clients based in the UK or with operations in the UK/Scotland. Those with a particular interest in a specific type of work will have the full support of the Partners to carve out a niche in that area.
The team are active across a wide range of sectors - from energy through to financial services, life sciences and retail - meaning you'll get exposure to a broad range of mandates imperative for development. The team is well stocked at all levels and also evenly distributed across Glasgow and Edinburgh.
This firm also has an active internal mobility programme, allowing its lawyers to spend time in other international offices, either on secondment or to transfer permanently. Lawyers who started in this team in Scotland are now living in Australia and the Middle East.
This team rarely hires externally in Scotland - it has an incredibly high retention rate and many of the leading commercial and tech lawyers in Scotland have spent their entire career in this team on account of the quality of work, supportive nature of the Partners and market-leading remuneration.
If you are a commercial and tech lawyer keen to work in either Glasgow or Edinburgh, then this team is without a doubt the absolute best place for you to take your career to the next level.
