A leading Legal 500 commercial boutique in North London is looking to appoint a Senior Property Solicitor to take a key role within its established and exceptionally busy property department. This is with the view of stepping into a Head of Department role if applicable. This is an opportunity for an experienced property lawyer who is ready to take a genuine leadership role, with the potential to help run and shape the department alongside continuing to handle a high-quality caseload.
The department already has a strong and established flow of work, so there is no requirement to bring a following or undertake formal business development. However, someone who enjoys developing relationships and would like to play a part in growing the department and wider business further would be particularly welcomed.
The Role
- You will work across a broad range of residential and commercial property matters, acting for a diverse client base including private clients, investors and businesses.
- The work is varied and includes high-value and complex transactions, with the successful candidate trusted to take ownership of matters and provide a high level of client service.
- Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing a varied caseload across residential and commercial property
- Handling high-value acquisitions and disposals
- Acting on freehold and leasehold transactions
- Advising private clients, property investors and commercial businesses
- Dealing with new developments and plot sales
- Handling auction sales and purchases
- Advising on the sale and purchase of repossessed properties
- Acting on equity transfers and lease extensions
- Dealing with secured borrowing and associated property matters
- Managing complex and time-sensitive transactions
- Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team
- Taking a senior role in the day-to-day running and development of the department
- Identifying opportunities to develop the department and its client base further
About You
The ideal candidate will be a senior property solicitor with substantial experience across residential and/or commercial property, coupled with the confidence and maturity to take responsibility for a busy department. You will ideally have:
- Strong technical property experience
- Experience handling high-value and complex transactions
- A broad residential and/or commercial property background
- Excellent client management and communication skills
- The ability to work autonomously and manage a demanding caseload
- Strong attention to detail and a solutions-focused approach
- The confidence to supervise, support and develop more junior lawyers
- A genuine interest in taking on a leadership role
- A commercial mindset and an appetite to contribute to the continued growth of the department
Business development experience is advantageous rather than essential, and there is no expectation that you will arrive with a portable following.
Why This Role?
This is a particularly strong opportunity to join a highly regarded Legal 500 commercial boutique where you can have a genuine impact rather than simply becoming another fee earner within a large team. The department is already very busy and well established, providing an excellent platform from which to build. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take a leading role in the department, whilst retaining the flexibility to develop their own practice and contribute to the firm's continued growth. There is flexibility around both salary and working arrangements, depending on the level and experience of the successful candidate, including some hybrid working.
If you are an experienced property solicitor looking for a role where your experience will genuinely be valued, with the opportunity to take on greater responsibility within a successful North London boutique, this could be an excellent next step.
