Job Description

Family Solicitor | Hinckley, Leicestershire | NQ-3 PQE | Develop Your Family Law Career

The Firm

What if your next family law role could give you the support to develop quickly, while still giving you the opportunity to build your own experience and become a valued member of a growing team?

Our client is an established and forward-thinking legal practice with offices across Leicestershire, offering a supportive environment for solicitors looking to build a long-term career in family law.

This is a firm that understands that the early years of your legal career are about more than simply getting through a caseload. You will have experienced colleagues around you, access to ongoing training and the opportunity to develop your technical and advocacy skills in a supportive environment.

With a collaborative team of fee earners, paralegals and legal assistants across two offices, you will have the benefit of being part of a wider family law team without feeling like just another fee earner on a spreadsheet. Your development matters, your voice is valued and there is a genuine opportunity to progress as your experience grows.

The Role

  • Join the Family Law team at the Hinckley branch.
  • Focus primarily on private family law, particularly divorce and financial remedy matters.
  • Manage a varied caseload with appropriate supervision and support.
  • Assist clients throughout divorce and financial settlement proceedings.
  • Gain exposure to children matters as part of a varied family law caseload.
  • Develop your ability to advise clients confidently and provide clear, practical legal guidance.
  • Have the opportunity to develop your advocacy skills and gain further experience in court.
  • Work closely with experienced fee earners, paralegals and legal assistants.
  • Benefit from structured training and ongoing professional development.
  • Potentially gain exposure to public law work, with the firm holding a Legal Aid franchise. This is advantageous but not essential, with training available.
  • Build strong and lasting relationships with clients by providing a professional, empathetic and responsive service.
  • Contribute to the continued development of a busy and supportive Family Law team.

What would your career look like if you had the opportunity to learn from experienced colleagues while still being trusted to develop your own skills and take on increasing responsibility?

You

  • Are a Solicitor at NQ to 3 years PQE.
  • Have some experience or training in private family law.
  • Have an interest in developing your expertise in divorce and financial remedy work.
  • Are comfortable managing a varied caseload with appropriate supervision.
  • Have a genuine interest in building a long-term career within Family Law.
  • Have strong communication skills and can explain complex legal issues clearly and sensitively.
  • Understand that family law clients often need both excellent legal advice and genuine empathy.
  • Have a professional, approachable and client-focused manner.
  • Have some advocacy experience or are keen to develop your confidence in this area.
  • Work well as part of a team and enjoy sharing knowledge with colleagues.
  • Are ambitious and motivated to continue developing professionally.
  • Would value working somewhere where you can ask questions, learn from experienced colleagues and have a genuine voice within the team.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on experience.
  • Full-time position, 36.25 hours per week.
  • Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:15pm.
  • Hinckley branch location.
  • Flexible or hybrid working available following the initial onboarding period.
  • Structured career development and clear progression opportunities.
  • Ongoing training and continuous professional development.
  • Support from an experienced and collaborative Family Law team.
  • Opportunity to develop your advocacy skills.
  • Exposure to a broad range of private family law matters.
  • Potential exposure to public law and Legal Aid work, with training available.
  • Excellent holiday entitlement.
  • Enhanced sick pay.
  • Free onsite parking.
  • Employee referral scheme.
  • Employee discounts.
  • Pension contributions.
  • Opportunity to build your career within a supportive and forward-thinking legal practice.

If you are NQ or within your first three years of qualification and want to build a career in Family Law, the right environment can make a huge difference.

You could spend the next few years simply handling files, or you could join a team where you are supported, challenged and given the opportunity to become a genuinely confident family lawyer.

If the latter sounds more like what you are looking for, contact Toby Ryan at QED Legal today for a confidential conversation about the role.
