Retail and hospitality property work has its own rhythm.

Shops, restaurants, pubs and hotels are not simply assets on a title sheet.

They are operating businesses, often with tight timescales, commercial pressure and clients who need advice that is practical rather than theoretical.

QED Legal is working with a well-established Scottish firm that is looking to strengthen its commercial property offering with the appointment of an experienced solicitor at seven years PQE or above.

The role can be based in either Edinburgh or Glasgow and offers a hybrid working arrangement.

You will advise on a broad mix of commercial property matters, including acquisitions and disposals, development land, option agreements, commercial leasing, planning-related agreements and the purchase and sale of investment and operational property.

The client base is equally varied.

You may be advising on retail units, industrial premises, offices, hotels, pubs, restaurants and other commercial assets, working with clients who value practical advice and long-term relationships rather than a purely transactional service.

This is a role for someone who enjoys becoming genuinely embedded in a client’s wider affairs.

You will work closely with colleagues across areas including corporate, tax, succession, employment, litigation, charities and private client, ensuring that advice is joined up and commercially sensible.

You should be comfortable taking ownership of matters, managing client relationships and acting as a trusted adviser.

Technical ability is important, but so is judgement, discretion and the ability to understand what really matters to the people behind the transaction.

The firm is open to discussing the shape of the role with the right individual and would suit an experienced commercial property solicitor looking for high-quality work, greater client contact and a more rounded advisory position.

For a confidential discussion, contact Neil at QED Legal.
