A well-established and highly regarded law firm is looking to recruit a Court of Protection Paralegal to join its supportive Private Client team. This is an excellent opportunity for a Paralegal, Legal Assistant or experienced Case Handler with exposure to Court of Protection, Private Client or a similar legal environment who is looking to develop their career within a specialist and client-focused team.

The successful candidate will support solicitors and professional deputies with the management of a varied caseload, assisting vulnerable clients who lack capacity to manage their own property and financial affairs. You will play an important role in ensuring clients receive a high standard of service while supporting the team with the day-to-day running of deputyship matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the management of Court of Protection deputyship files from start to finish
  • Preparing Court of Protection applications, correspondence and supporting documentation
  • Liaising with clients, family members, care providers, local authorities, financial institutions and other professionals
  • Assisting with the administration of clients’ financial affairs, including budgeting, payments, banking and maintaining accurate records
  • Supporting the preparation of Office of the Public Guardian reports and ensuring compliance with deputyship obligations
  • Maintaining accurate case management records and ensuring files are kept up to date
  • Providing a compassionate and professional service to clients and their families
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across the wider Private Client team

About You:

  • Previous experience as a Paralegal, Legal Assistant or Case Handler within Court of Protection, Private Client or a related legal setting is desirable
  • Understanding of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Court of Protection processes would be advantageous
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate work
  • Confident communicator with the ability to build relationships with clients and external stakeholders
  • A proactive and empathetic approach, with a genuine interest in supporting vulnerable clients
  • Strong administrative skills and confidence dealing with financial records
  • Able to work independently while contributing positively to a supportive team environment
