We're working with a brilliant leading national UK law firm that is looking to appoint a Contracts Advisor into its established Risk & Compliance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a contracts professional who enjoys working at the intersection of commercial contracts, legal risk and regulatory compliance, and wants to take ownership of a broad portfolio of client and supplier agreements.
You'll work closely with Partners, senior stakeholders, Procurement and the wider Risk & Compliance function, providing practical, commercially focused advice and helping the firm manage contractual and regulatory risk.
The Role?
- As Contracts Advisor, you'll have a particular focus on client contracts and engagement terms.
- Reviewing, drafting and negotiating client engagement terms, contracts and agreements.
- Advising on outside counsel guidelines, panel terms, engagement letters and standard terms of business.
- Identifying and assessing legal, regulatory and commercial risks within contracts.
- Advising stakeholders on departures from standard contractual positions and supporting the relevant approval processes.
- Working closely with Procurement on supplier contracts and terms of service.
- Acting as a trusted advisor to Partners and internal stakeholders on contractual and compliance queries.
- Maintaining and developing contract precedents, playbooks, guidance and contract databases.
- Keeping up to date with regulatory developments and market practice.
- Providing clear, practical and commercially focused advice that enables the business to move forward.
This is a high-profile role with excellent exposure across the firm, offering the opportunity to become a key point of contact for contractual matters.
About You?
We're keen to speak with candidates who have experience in contract review, contract advisory or contract negotiation, whether that's within a law firm, professional services environment or another regulated sector. You could come from a background such as:

- Legal Operations
- In-house Legal
- Professional Services
You'll ideally have experience with client engagement terms and/or supplier contracts, alongside an understanding of the regulatory or risk considerations that can sit within commercial agreements.
Commercially minded and pragmatic.
Confident identifying and managing contractual risk.
Comfortable advising senior stakeholders.
Strong in contract drafting, review and negotiation.
Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
An excellent communicator, both written and verbal.
Proactive and comfortable working independently.
Experience within a law firm or another highly regulated environment would be advantageous, but isn't essential.
