Job Description Not every lawyer joining an entrepreneurial law firm needs to arrive with a black book and a calculator./n /n /n There is an opportunity for an experienced Contentious Construction Solicitor to join a growing construction practice in a salaried role, working closely with a highly experienced Partner on complex disputes./n /n /n Iβm looking to speak with solicitors from around 4 years PQE upwards who have a genuine grounding in contentious construction and want to keep developing at the higher end of the market./n /n /n The work is exactly what you would expect from a serious construction disputes practice./n /n /n Adjudications./n /n /n Arbitrations./n /n /n TCC proceedings./n /n /n Mediation./n /n /n Payment disputes./n /n /n Defects./n /n /n Delay and disruption./n /n /n Final account disputes./n /n /n And the occasional matter where everybody involved is absolutely convinced the contract says something different./n /n /n You will be working directly with an established construction disputes Partner, getting properly involved in strategy, client relationships and the running of significant matters rather than sitting several layers removed from the decision-making./n /n /n That is probably the biggest attraction here./n /n /n This is not a role where you disappear into a large team and become another pair of hands./n /n /n Nor is it a fee-share proposition where you are expected to arrive with your own client following and immediately start generating work./n /n /n It is a salaried position./n /n /n You bring the technical ability, the judgement and the desire to develop./n /n /n The platform, work and senior support are already there./n /n /n For somebody around 4β8 PQE, I think that could be particularly attractive./n /n /n You may already be handling construction disputes independently but want more exposure to complex adjudication and arbitration work./n /n /n You may be in a larger national practice and want much more direct Partner contact./n /n /n Or you may simply be at the stage where you want your next move to accelerate your development rather than give you the same work under a different logo./n /n /n The wider construction practice has experience across major projects, engineering, infrastructure, energy and development work, with disputes handled through adjudication, arbitration, mediation and the courts./n /n /n So there is plenty of scope to deepen your specialism./n /n /n You do not need to bring a following./n /n /n You do not need to become self-employed./n /n /n And you do not need to spend the next two years waiting for somebody above you to let you near the interesting work./n /n /n If you are a Contentious Construction Solicitor around 4+ PQE and would like to hear more, contact Neil Campbell at QED Legal./n /n /n I can talk you through the Partner as we have a personal connection, the work, the structure and why I think this is a particularly interesting option for someone who wants to build a serious construction disputes career.
