A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP) to join the legal arm of a global professional services firm. This is a key role within a boutique SRA-regulated law firm, supporting a private client practice specialising in areas including wills, trusts, probate, powers of attorney and wider private client matters. The successful candidate will take ownership of the firm’s regulatory compliance framework, ensuring ongoing adherence to the SRA Standards and Regulations and supporting a strong culture of risk management and best practice.
The Role:
- Maintaining compliance with the firm’s SRA authorisation requirements and regulatory obligations
- Monitoring compliance across the business and advising managers, employees and stakeholders on regulatory matters
- Identifying, managing and escalating potential breaches or areas of regulatory risk
- Providing guidance on SRA Standards and Regulations and supporting continuous improvement of compliance processes
- Reporting relevant matters to the SRA where required
- Working closely with senior leadership and the wider business to embed a proactive compliance culture
About You:
- Qualified solicitor status with 5+ years PQE gained within an SRA-regulated law firm
- Previous experience acting as a COLP for at least 2 years
- Strong knowledge of the SRA Standards and Regulations and law firm compliance requirements
- The confidence to advise and challenge at Board and senior management level
- Excellent communication, organisation and prioritisation skills
- A proactive approach with the ability to work autonomously
