Job Description

Commercial Property Solicitor / CILEX | Pubs, Leisure & Licensed Estates | Major Clients\n
\n
Salary: £40,000 - £55,000, DOE\n
1–3 years’ PQE | Hull\n
\n
\n If you’re a Commercial Property Solicitor or CILEX Lawyer with 1–3 years’ PQE, this is an opportunity to move into a genuinely interesting specialist environment without needing prior licensing or pub-sector experience.\n
\n
\n The team advises some of the UK’s largest pub companies, licensed operators, retailers and leisure businesses, dealing with the property issues that sit behind large and often complex licensed estates.\n
\n
\n You’ll join an established Pub Team working alongside three Partners, a Solicitor, Trainee Solicitor and Paralegal. It’s a collaborative team, but one where you’ll have plenty of opportunity to develop your own technical ability and client relationships.\n
\n
\n Your starting point is a solid grounding in general commercial property. From there, you’ll gain exposure to work connected with pubs, leisure and licensed premises, giving you a chance to develop a niche that is difficult to replicate in a standard commercial property role.\n
\n
\n The wider practice works with major operators across the pub, retail, supermarket, health club, cinema and leisure sectors, advising on everything from property and licensing requirements through to regulatory issues affecting large estates.\n
\n
\n
\n You’ll ideally have:\n
    \n
  • 1–3 years’ PQE in commercial property, or equivalent CILEX experience
  • \n

  • A good grounding in general commercial property
  • \n

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • \n

  • Good organisation and communication skills
  • \n

  • A practical, commercial approach to problem-solving
  • \n

  • The ability to work collaboratively while taking responsibility for your own work
  • \n

  • A genuine interest in developing within a specialist commercial practice
  • \n

Previous experience in the pub, leisure or licensing sector is not essential. The key is having the commercial property fundamentals and the appetite to learn.\n
\n
\n This is particularly interesting for someone who wants more than another generalist commercial property role. You’ll be working with major national clients and large licensed estates, while developing specialist sector knowledge alongside experienced lawyers.\n
\n
\n There is also a clear opportunity to progress. The team is looking for someone with the legal ability and work ethic to develop with the department rather than simply fill a seat.\n
\n
\n If you’re a Commercial Property Solicitor, CILEX Lawyer or Legal Executive with 1–3 years’ PQE and the idea of working with major pub, leisure and licensed operators appeals, I’d be keen to have a conversation.\n
