You would join a specialist team covering charity law, higher education governance and commercial trusts, working on a hybrid basis with genuine flexibility built in.
The real draw is the breadth: the role spans two distinct specialisms and you only need solid experience in one - it’s shaped around what you already do well and where you want to develop, with senior lawyers supporting the move into the other.
On the charity and higher education side you’ll advise universities on the charity law behind their commercial activity - spin-outs, IP licensing, revenue partnerships - and on mergers and restructurings involving royal charter amendments, Privy Council and Charity Commission approvals, and Office for Students engagement.
On the trusts side the clients are the UK’s leading insurers and major healthcare trust administrators, with work spanning new product structuring, group life arrangements and employee benefit trusts, often alongside the firm’s insurance, restructuring and corporate teams.
It’s a market-leading practice with a growing global footprint, structured training, biannual appraisals and regular career conversations, so people tend to stay and specialise rather than move on for better work.
