Family Solicitor, Children Specialist, Birmingham, Private & Public Law, Hybrid Working
Are you a Family Solicitor specialising in children law who wants access to genuinely complex private and public law work within a nationally recognised Family practice?
An award-winning national law firm is looking for an experienced Children Solicitor to join its growing Birmingham operation, handling a mixture of private and public children matters alongside legal aid and protective work.
The position can be considered from around 2 years' PQE through to Partner level, giving the firm flexibility to shape the opportunity around the right lawyer.
The Firm
This is an award-winning national law firm with a highly regarded and established Family practice.
The wider Family department has considerable expertise across complex children law, international family matters, domestic abuse and wider family disputes, providing the successful candidate with access to experienced specialists and a strong national platform.
The Birmingham offering is continuing to develop, creating an opportunity to join an established national practice while also playing a part in its continued growth within the Midlands.
The Role
You'll specialise in children law across both privately and publicly funded matters, including:
- Private law children matters
- Public law children proceedings
- Care proceedings
- Legal aid work
- Protective orders
- Complex and sensitive children cases
- Representing parents and other family members
- Working with vulnerable clients through difficult and often highly sensitive proceedings
Advocacy experience would be particularly useful, although it isn't essential.
Depending on your level, there is also scope to contribute to the continued development and growth of the Birmingham Family offering.
You
You'll be a qualified Family Solicitor with at least 2 years' PQE and a genuine specialism in children law.
You'll need experience across private and public law children matters and be comfortable undertaking legally aided work.
Experience dealing with protective orders would also be valuable.
Advocacy experience is preferred but isn't a prerequisite, and the firm is prepared to consider candidates across a broad range of seniority β from an established 2+ PQE Solicitor through to Partner level.
This is particularly suited to someone who wants to remain a genuine Children specialist rather than moving towards a general divorce and finance caseload.
Why Consider It?
- Hybrid working with up to two days from home per week
- Genuine mix of private and public law children work
- Award-winning national Family practice
- Opportunity to join a growing Birmingham offering
- Genuine progression opportunities, including a formal route towards Partnership
The firm also offers a good holiday allowance, Christmas shutdown, birthday leave and enhanced family-friendly policies.
If Children law is where you want to build your career, would you rather do it within a general Family department or as part of a national practice with genuine depth in complex children work?
