Overview
Comfortable navigating Export Licensing, Customs and International Trade Compliance? This role is a genuinely varied position within a leading defence technology business’s UK Legal & Compliance team. You’ll work across Engineering, Projects, Operations, and Legal to ensure complex defence products and technology remain compliant throughout their lifecycle. As a standalone role, you’ll become the go-to person for trade compliance across the business, supporting major programmes while helping shape internal processes and compliance standards.
The Role
- Managing UK Export Licensing (SIELs, OIELs & OGELs)
- Advising on UK Export Control Regulations, Customs and International Trade Compliance
- Supporting compliance with UK, EU and US regulations including ITAR and EAR
- Preparing export licence applications and maintaining licence compliance
- Conducting internal audits and compliance reviews
- Delivering Export Control and Trade Compliance training
- Managing sanctions screening, denied party screening and end‑user due diligence
- Working alongside Engineering and Project teams to classify products and technology correctly
About you
- Circa 5 years experience within Trade Compliance or Export Control
- Strong knowledge of UK Export Licensing and Customs Regulations
- Experience working with ITAR, EAR and international trade regulations
- Previous experience within Defence, Aerospace, Engineering or another highly regulated environment
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
