An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Legal Secretary to join a busy and well‐established Family Department based in Blackburn.
Key Responsibilities
- Audio typing and preparation of legal correspondence and documents
- Diary management, arranging appointments and meetings
- Opening, closing, storing and retrieving client files
- Preparing mail and legal documentation for dispatch
- Supporting fee earners to ensure efficient day‐to‐day operations
- Attending to clients both in person and over the telephone in a professional manner
- Assisting other secretaries and supporting junior staff where required
- Maintaining confidentiality of all client and firm information
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar legal secretarial role within a Family Law department
- Experience of both privately funded and publicly funded children matters
- Knowledge of Legal Aid funding and online applications
- Audio typing speed of 60wpm using digital dictation systems
- Experience using case management systems
- Excellent communication and telephone manner
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage urgent tasks effectively
- Team player with a personable and professional approach
Desirable Skills
- RSA Level 2
- Audio typing speed of 90wpm
- Good knowledge of legal procedures within a busy legal environment
- Strong IT skills including MS Office Suite and case management systems
