We're working with a growing regional law firm of over 400 people that is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Risk & Compliance Manager.
This could be an excellent move for someone currently operating as a Head of Risk & Compliance, COLP or senior generalist within a smaller firm who wants to join a larger, well-resourced function without losing the visibility, autonomy and influence they currently enjoy.
The role?
- Advising on SRA regulatory and professional conduct matters
- Managing complaints, claims and professional indemnity matters
- Horizon-scanning and implementing regulatory change
- Developing firmwide policies, procedures and guidance
- Conducting compliance audits across practice groups
- Coordinating Lexcel accreditation
- Supporting the firm’s PII renewal
- Delivering risk and compliance training
- Supervising and developing a Risk & Compliance Assistant
- Supporting due diligence on potential mergers and acquisitions
- Contributing to senior management reporting and strategic projects
This is a broad, influential position, not a role focused solely on AML, conflicts or file reviews.
About you?
- Broad experience in law firm risk and compliance function
- Detailed knowledge of the SRA Standards and Regulations, Accounts Rules and Code of Conduct
- Experience handling complaints, claims and professional indemnity matters
- Confidence advising partners and senior stakeholders on complex regulatory issues
- Experience developing policies, procedures and firmwide guidance
- Strong investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills
- The ability to influence, challenge and build trusted relationships across a firm
- A collaborative approach, with the confidence to work autonomously and supervise junior colleagues
You’ll need strong experience in a law firm Risk & Compliance function, alongside detailed knowledge of the SRA Standards and Regulations, Accounts Rules, professional indemnity insurance and the Legal Ombudsman framework.
